Nike has reportedly suspended the release of Travis Scott’s latest sneaker after a 9-year-old boy became the tenth victim to pass away from the horrifying Astroworld concert tragedy.
The mega-corporate establishment recently released a statement where it mentioned boldly on Monday how the measures were being taken as a means of showing respect to all those impacted by the tragic event that took place at the music festival. “We are postponing the launch for the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack”- it revealed.
The array of runners were initially all set to be revealed and launched in the colorways of Baroque Brown and Saturn Gold with the date of the release being stated as December 16, reports confirmed.
9-year-old Ezra Blount who hailed from Dallas in Texas was recently declared dead last Sunday after he was placed in a medically induced coma.
The young boy was a huge fan of Travis Scott, as revealed by his dad who stated how stoked his son was to witness the rapper perform live. Little did he know that his love for the performer would ultimately lead to his untimely death.
Ezra and his father were stationed towards the rear end of the stage as they wished to avoid the crowded area but after the stampede, both son and father fell to the ground after being suffocated. The young boy was sitting on his father’s shoulders but after his dad lost consciousness, he slammed to the ground, entering into a coma.
“I thought it would be calmer near the back area and that’s why I chose to stand there with my son. But after losing consciousness, I don’t know what happened. When I woke up, he wasn’t there and I couldn’t find him. My son had been trampled upon,” the emotional dad added.
The father filed a police report and that’s when one officer informed him that Ezra was being treated at a hospital for his injuries. He suffered from kidney, brain, and liver damage, as confirmed by reports.
