What would you do if you were told that you’ve been visiting the wrong grave of your loved one for the past 43 years?
Well, this is not a hypothetical question but one of extreme heartbreak that one family was forced to endure.
According to local media outlets, the local council has informed the loved ones that the headstone for their dearly departed father has been wrongly placed for the past 43 years. And hence, they’ve been going to the wrong place this whole time to pay their respects.
Sylvia Rose could be seen mentioning that her dad’s grave is a place that she and her loved ones often visit whenever they’re feeling low.
But finding out the horrifying news from the council has left her and her family in a state of absolute shock and devastation.
“We’ve been leaving flowers in the wrong place for such a long span of time. It’s unbelievable how they could be so careless and act as if nothing went wrong”- she continued.
The news has spread in the community and people are furious, running to the council and asking how a mistake of this sort could have taken place in the first place and how they were informed so late.
This terrifying mix-up ordeal took place at the Witton Park Cemetary in County Durham. And now, the Durham County Council’s leading administrative members are apologizing for the mistake.
But that does not seem to be good enough for many people who feel that a thorough check needs to be kept to avoid such tragic mishaps in the future. They claim it’s the equivalent of playing with people’s lives. What do you think?
