Professional wrestler Jay Briscoe has passed away at the age of just 38 years old.
According to the reports, the former wrestling icon, who went by the real name of Jamin Pugh, died in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware, on Tuesday.
The tragic news was announced by All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan who recalled the wrestler’s successful career as he shared his sympathies with his family, including Jay’s tag team member and brother Mark Briscoe.
“Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today,” Khan wrote.
“Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin.”
Jay the grappler, who wrestled for two decades and became the 18th Ring of Honor champion, was also remembered by his colleagues for his drive and passion.
“[He was] one of the toughest men I ever had the privilege of sharing a ring with, as well as being a tremendous brother, father, and man,” wrestler Christopher Daniels expressed.
“I cannot even begin to process this right now. I loved everything about my friend Jay Briscoe. His passion. His drive. His presence. Our wars in the ring. Most importantly, how much he loved his family. I am literally sick to my stomach,” Frankie Kazarian added.
ECW legend Tommy Dreamer said: “I watched him become an amazing wrestler, best tag team & realest promo guy.
“I was going to text him yesterday about the cost of eggs and I didn’t … I wish I did … Whenever I saw them I’d say Luv me some Briscoes. Prayers for his family.”
