More drama is taking center stage at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
According to reports from local media outlets, a massive fire was observed at the area designated as the world cup city, just a few moments before the match ensued.
Huge plumes of smoke were witnessed over the fan park area in Qatar’s Lusail region. Paramedics and rescue services were seen rushing to the scene and it is now believed that the massive blaze has been brought under control.
Fans and locals described the horrifying scenes that lay in front of them, calling it out as scary because that specific region houses thousands of fans from all around the globe that traveled to witness games being played live in the stadium.
Now, viral footage is being seen where a roof was lashed with huge flames in the Qetaifan Island North, just a few miles from Lusail Stadium.
As of now, investigations are taking center stage to determine what exactly caused the blaze in the fan villages.
This particular ground would be playing host to several games in the World Cup tournament and that includes the clash taking place between the likes of Argentina and Mexico, during the later hours of today.
But seeing the massive and thick black smoke really opened so many people’s eyes. It was so huge that it could be viewed from a distance in the central part of Doha.
Qatar is so grateful that the Ministry of Interior mentioned that it’s Civil Defense had the fire under control without any casualties. Nevertheless, seeing such an endeavor take center stage during one of the world’s biggest sporting events is definitely raising eyebrows.
