A factory worker miraculously survived a fall into a furnace filled with 1,328F molten aluminum.
The horrific incident takes place in St Gallen, Switzerland, where a 25-year-old worker in question fell inside a vat filled with extremely hot aluminum.
Despite the odds, the man managed to pull himself to safety even after his legs were already knee-deep in the molten mass.
After pulling himself out of the vat, the 25-year-old was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he is undergoing treatment for extensive burns. It remains unclear if the worker will regain his ability to walk.
According to the reports, the young man fell into the opening while working on the furnace with another employee.
The incident currently remains under investigation with the factory officials reviewing measures and policies surrounding safety in the work environment.
While not very common, extreme injuries at workplaces are no rarity. Previously, 59-year-old Christopher Wright lost his entire arm during a horror incident at the packaging company he worked at.
After losing his arm, the grandfather packed his severed limb and was rushed to the hospital where the arm was reattached in a complex 11-hour procedure.
Following the accident, the company pleaded guilty to breaching safety regulations and was eventually ordered to pay a fine of $140,000.
While his arm was reattached, Christopher will be left with lifelong pain and restricted movement as a result of his injury.
