Just when you thought the process of transitioning was a complicated affair, wait until you hear this next real-life story of a person who was born as a biological female.
26-year-old Issa Ismail is a barber who hails from Detroit in Michigan. While she may have been born as a biological female, her story goes beyond just that.
At the age of 19, this young woman felt the need to announce that she was transgender. For this reason, she opted to undergo the transitioning process into a male by starting her testosterone hormone therapy.
After taking the hormone for nearly six years, which completely altered her body’s dynamics as a whole, she was well on her way to being a male. This includes undergoing surgery for breast removal.
However, after the entire ordeal was over, Issa realized that she just was not happy as a male. Therefore, in February of 2021, she became mentally ill and was diagnosed with depression.
At that point in her life, she felt that it was time for her to de-transition back into a woman and for that reason, opted to put a halt to her testosterone therapy as a whole.
Now, she is sharing her unique and mind-blowing life experience with the world. And that’s because she wants the world to know that it’s okay when some things don’t work out and you have trouble identifying yourself.
“I wish to help all of those struggling with gender identity in their lives and are not sure about whether or not they should transition,” she mentioned.
“During those six years, I was a complete male. The hormones changed my appearance, my voice, and my muscle growth. My fat was redistributed away from my breasts and hips. I was a male but I was not happy and that’s okay,” she adds.
