Tragic reports have gone on to speak about a disabled woman being paralyzed after falling off her wheelchair while on her way to a Southwest Airlines flight.
Sources from local media outlets mentioned how the woman was denied any form of assistance by the plane’s crew members, leaving witnesses horrified at the brutal treatment.
She reportedly was making use of a wheelchair when all of a sudden, it got stuck and came across a bumpy or uneven surface.
That caused her to fall off the wheelchair and onto the ground with a loud bang. Moreover, she sustained serious head injuries that left her paralyzed. And after an 11-month-long battle for survival, it finally came to an end when she tragically died.
The female passenger was disabled and the fact that she had fallen from the Southwest Airlines pathway meant that she expected a little help from the staff on the ground for help.
But shockingly, no one was there to help her and that left a lot of tears in her eyes. She was all alone and now her family is speaking up on the matter.
Gabby Assouline was only 25 at the time of her death. Her boarding flight was from Fort Lauderdale Airport in February of last year and the fact that her electric wheelchair hit a junction on the walkway of that particular airline meant their staff should have assisted instead of walking away with shame.
Assouline not only landed on her head but attained serious damage to her spinal cord and her brain which led to her paralysis, waist downwards.
After her death, the parents are fighting for justice and have also set up a GoFundMe account. They hope others can be made aware of the danger of traveling with electronic wheelchairs to avoid such unfortunate mishaps.
