A woman was arrested after killing one and injuring at least two more during her shooting spree in Atlanta.
The suspect reportedly began her crime spree just before 2 pm after storming an apartment building at 1280 West Peachtree Street NW and opening fire on the people in the management office.
In seconds, several shots were fired by the female attacker. The shooting left one person injured and another dead.
After making a quick getaway from the condominium, the woman shot and wounded another person at an office building just blocks away from the first crime scene.
The second shooting reportedly took place just half an hour after the first incident.
Following the two connected shootings, the police closed off the nearby streets and urged residents to seek shelter.
A large manhunt for the suspect was since initiated and the police shared a picture of the woman before tracking her down at a local airport and arresting her.
The suspect, who was pictured by a bystander but yet remains to be identified, was arrested at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport just after 4 pm the same day.
According to the reports, the two victims that survived the shooting remain in hospital. It is unclear what their condition currently is.
While the shooting is under investigation, the police have yet to establish the motive and determine if the suspect knew the victims prior to the shooting or not.
“On 8-22-2022, at around 1:45 PM, officers responded to a person shot call at 1280 W. Peachtree Street. Upon arrival, officers located two individuals who appeared to have been shot. One of the victims has died,” Atlanta police confirmed.
“The second victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. While at 1280 W. Peachtree Street, officers received another call of a person shot at 1100 Peachtree Street.
“Upon arrival there, officers located 1 individual who appeared to have been shot. The individual was taken to the hospital for treatment.”
They added: “Initial information indicates an unknown female is responsible for these incidents. Multiple officers responded to the Midtown area and began searching for the female suspect. It is unclear whether the suspect remained in the area or has left.”
