A woman was left in tears after discovering that she was pregnant just hours after her husband was killed in an accident.
23-year-old Jonathan Rodriguez, who shared two young sons with wife Daisy, died from his injuries after being overrun by his truck while cleaning the yard of their home.
According to the reports, the accident took place in Santaquin, Utah, where the father’s vehicle began rolling down the slope outside the house. While trying to stop the truck, the young man and his mother were injured along with Jonathan’s wife.
Unfortunately, the medics could not save Jonathan and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, his wife was rushed to the hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.
Just hours after her hospitalization, Daisy found out that her husband had passed away in the accident. She was also told by the doctors that she was pregnant with the couple’s third child.
“Together they raised two young boys who loved their father. He was their role model and best friend. Jonathan loved his family and always put them first before anything else,” Sara Munoz, Daisy’s sister, said.
She also explained the horrific events on GoFundMe as she asked for donations to help the widowed mom with medical and funeral expenses.
“On May 6th 2023 a devastating accident occurred in the home of my sister Daisy Rodriguez. My sister along with her husband and his family were fixing up their backyard, when tragedy struck. While working on the yard, a truck that was parked next to the house rolled backwards towards the yard,” the page reads.
“My sister’s husband Jonathan Rodriguez alongside his mother Sonia Rodriguez tried to stop the vehicle from continuing to roll down the yard that sits on a slope. But, unfortunately, their efforts cost them to be crushed by the truck.
“Paramedics arrived and tried to resuscitate Jonathan, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His mother Sonia was life-flighted to the hospital due to her extensive injuries and is currently awaiting multiple surgeries.”
Munoz went on to pay tribute to the young father saying he had a full life with “dreams and goals ahead of him.” She also praised him for being an “amazing father to his two boys” and for working hard to provide for his family.
