A woman has been arrested and charged with murder after brutally stabbing her young daughter to death.
26-year-old Kristhie Alcazar from Penns Grove, New Jersey, was apprehended by the police after they discovered a dead baby girl while responding to an “open 911 call with audible disturbance in the background.”
According to the authorities, the infant was the woman’s 5-month-old daughter who died from multiple stab wounds to the chest.
Following her horrendous attack, Alcazar was arrested and booked into Salem County Jail where she remains as of this writing. In the meanwhile, investigators seized a series of knives alongside other evidence from the woman’s house.
Though the motive for the killing remains unclear, some neighbors suggested that the mother’s battle with postpartum depression might have led to the murder.
“She seemed like such a good mom, but they said she had post-partum and I have no idea what that’s like so I can’t judge,” one of the neighbors said in an interview with CBS 3.
Another neighbor, Arthur Edge, claimed that the murder comes as a complete shock to him even though he had lived next to Alcazar for two and a half years.
“It touches home cause I got grandkids and all that. I know the father and the mother, so you know we just got to be here for each other from here on out, and hopefully, this type of stuff stops happening, hopefully,” he said.
The third neighbor, Jose Quiles, added: “It’s sad. It hurts. A baby. Especially a baby. It really hurts.”
As the unnamed neighbor who thought that the woman seemed like a good mom added, they believe she was arguing with her mother when the police stormed the building.
“The lady’s mom was over there screaming, and I knew something was wrong,” the neighbor said before adding: “The EMS went in there and when they came out and left I knew the baby was dead because they would’ve transported her.”
