Devastating reports have revealed how a 33-year-old man has been charged for murdering an 86-year-old woman while leaving her husband critically injured at their home in Derbyshire.
The accused was identified as Vasile Culea who has been slapped with the murder charges of Freda Walker and attempted murder charges of Kenneth.
Authorities claim that he will now appear before the Magistrates Court in Nottingham on Saturday.
The horrendous attack tore the beautiful couple apart in a matter of seconds as the killer barged into their residence near Bolsover.
At the moment, the victim’s 88-year-old husband is fighting for his life after suffering from life-threatening injuries in relation to the attack.
Neighbors happened to stumble upon the couple at about 9 am in the morning on Saturday. They quickly called up emergency services after seeing that something was not right.
The accused is currently being remanded in custody after receiving his charges.
Previously, it had been assumed that the incident was a suspected burglary.
88-year-old Mr. Walker is a town councilor and authorities claim that could have been one of the reasons for the attack but nothing can be stated at the moment as investigations into the tragic case continue.
The area’s assistant chief constable has thanked all those who came forward and provided their support in the investigation.
“This incident has managed to instill an understandable impact upon the entire community of Langwith Junction and the broader Shirebrook area,” he stated.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the entire couple’s friends and loved ones, and we wish Ken best wishes for his speedy recovery,” he concluded.
As the exact details of the case are still being investigated, along with the exact motive behind the act, detectives involved in the case still wish to speak to those walking or driving on the Station Road, during the same time that the crime had occurred.
