A woman looking forward to becoming a grandmother died two days after being run over by a car at a hospital parking lot.
52-year-old Mary Owen-Jones from Rhos on Sea, North Wales, was on her way to visit her newborn granddaughter, April Rose, when she was hit by a car at the Glan Clwyd hospital parking lot.
According to the reports, the excited grandma was walking between two parking lots near the hospital’s entrance at around 8.40 pm when she was run over by a vehicle.
Two days after the tragic incident, Mary succumbed to her injuries before she could see her granddaughter.
“Mary is survived by her son and daughter, Andrew and Jasmine, her granddaughter, April Rose and her husband, Arwel,” the family’s heart-wrenching statement read.
“She had a passion for life and her family and was particularly looking forward to being a grandma to her newly born granddaughter, April Rose.
“She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We are absolutely heartbroken and would ask to be given the appropriate privacy to allow us time to grieve.”
Meanwhile, the police pleaded with the public to come forward with any information that might help them establish the circumstances of the collision and conclude the investigation.
“I offer my profound condolences to the woman’s family at this very difficult time,” Sergeant Liam Morris of Roads Policing Unit said.
“An investigation has commenced, and I am appealing to anybody who may have witnessed or inadvertently captured the incident on their dash-cam whilst parked outside the hospital to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
Our thoughts are with Mary’s family and friends during this challenging time.
