A woman allegedly ran over her partner with a car and nearly killed him in the process after the man ate her fries.
Appearing in Adelaide Magistrates Court in Australia, Matthew Finn claimed that he nearly lost his life as a result of a bizarre dispute between him and his partner, 42-year-old Charlotte Harrison.
According to the man, the couple were driving through north Adelaide on Sunday when he picked a French fry from his girlfriend’s chicken and salad order.
The act was witnessed by Harrison who then allegedly ordered her boyfriend to exit the vehicle before running over him with her car.
Pleading not guilty to aggravated endangering life, Harrison argued that she was taking her partner to the hospital because he wasn’t feeling well at the time of the incident.
She also claimed she told the man to get out of the car after he assaulted her on the way to the hospital. According to her testimony, Harrison then made a U-turn and accidentally hit her boyfriend with her car while on her way to the police to report the issue.
“She has seen him run off, she has attempted to do a U-turn to go to the Norwood Police Station. She has, by mistake, stepped on the accelerator rather than the brake and then hit the pole as described in the CCTV footage,” her lawyer insisted.
“It’s accepted that on viewing the CCTV footage that it might look like there was an attempt to endanger the complainant’s life.”
As the investigation into the case continues, the prosecution is yet to make official allegations.
