A woman has been put on trial for luring four teenage boys to a park where they were brutally attacked and killed by her boyfriend’s gang.
22-year-old Leniz Escobar, who is also known as the Little Devil, appeared at a court in Central Islip, New York, on Wednesday after being accused of luring four teenagers to their death.
According to the prosecutors, Escobar lured Michael Lopez, 20, Justin Llivicura, 16, Jefferson Villalobos, 18, and Jorge Tigre, 18, to a Long Island park where they were hacked to death with machetes and knives by members of the MS-13 gang.
It is said that Escobar, whose boyfriend was a top-ranking member of MS-13, tricked the young men by offering to smoke weed together after they ‘disrespected’ the gang by falsely claiming they were its members on social media.
During the trial, Prosecutor Justina Geraci recalled the testimony of an MS-13 member who accused Escobar of licking the blood of the slain victims off her lips.
“You heard [MS-13 gang member] David Gaitan-Rivera’s testimony. He told you how one of the victims had reached for [Escobar] before he was killed and his blood had gotten all over her shirt. He told you how she licked her lips,” Geraci said.
Meanwhile, Escobar’s friend, Keyli Gomez, testified that the pair “crouched down by the victims and watched as they were killed. Not screaming or crying while the victims were macheted to death.”
Seemingly showing little remorse for what had happened, Escobar was seen smiling while the prosecutors outlined their federal racketeering case against her.
Addressing the court was also Elmer Alexander Arteaga Ruiz, one of the gang’s targets, who managed to survive the slaying by running for his life after his group was ambushed.
“They came through a hole in the fence. There were eight or nine. They covered their faces with sweaters. They came and formed a semi-circle. They told us get down on our knees,” Ruiz recalled.
“They said, ‘Don’t move. Whoever moves, dies. I ran because the first words they said was that we were going to die, they were going to kill us, and they had weapons.
“I took off running and there were two people who started to follow me. Thank God I managed to escape.”
Ruiz went on to explain that he and his friends pretended to be MS-13 gang members in an attempt to “look tough” and impress girls.
“[Ruiz] was a poser and that’s why he was marked for death. He thought this stuff would attract girls and it did – but not in the way he had hoped,” Prosecutor Geraci added.
The trial remains ongoing.
