A window washer has reportedly fallen down to his death in Brooklyn, sparking outrage from citizens who claim the building had poor safety measures.
The window washer was identified as 34-year-old Diego Rodriguez Celi who hails from New Jersey. Officials pronounced him as dead on Friday morning after he fell while on duty from a 21-story high building.
Celi was working on the 12th floor while all of a sudden, he fell down and landed on the building’s second-floor balcony.
Local media outlets spoke about how he worked with the mega construction company named New Line Structures and Development, which reportedly made news after it got more than 115 complaints regarding its safety measures.
While the cause of the fall of the worker is being investigated, authorities are also taking a closer look at the worker’s equipment and that’s because some suspect that Celi passed away after his harness broke.
The exact location of the building was revealed by authorities to be 135 York Street in Dumbo.
Meanwhile, the victim’s cousin says that he had never even heard about any complaints from Celi about his job being unsafe. But little did the 34-year-old realize that it would soon end up taking his life.
“I just spoke to him this morning and he was so happy,” the cousin revealed to Daily News. “He never revealed how he was having any problems at work,” he went on to add.
The victim was revealed to be a person who was not only hard working but very quiet too. Grieving family members claim that the young man passed away in an accident that they are still clueless about but they hope to find many answers to their questions soon.
