The arrival of Wimbledon is bringing back plenty of memories of the critics in regards to an obnoxious rule regarding the dress code of female players.
According to local media reports, the rule dates back to 2014 when women were forced to go bra-less and give the spectators in the audience plenty of things to look at, other than the game itself.
The rule mentioned how all Tennis players, be it males or females, would only be allowed to wear white. And that included undergarments like bras too. And those garments that perhaps had a single trim of color that was not more than one centimeter were allowed.
Some male players came under fire for wearing red trainers which they were forced to remove but what really shocked the world was how females without white-colored bras had no choice but to play bra-less and that didn’t seem to be a huge problem for those who claimed they had their eyes on nothing but the game and hence weren’t going to get distracted.point 411 |

“There were females out there who had bras with a slight coloration on them and they were not allowed to play in the game without moving them. And in the end, what we saw was so many females playing bra-less”- commented one critic about the sport.
Meanwhile, some of the girls were even informed to return back to the pavilion in case they chose to argue. But players like Naomi Broady had no problems adopting the weird rule as she was seen playing her best game without a bra.
The news comes as one of the tournament’s leading sponsors, Nike, is feeling the heat for designing all-white outfits for females this year that are more or less transparent. Now, we don’t know if that’s intentional or not, but the brand is being questioned for the behavior that many can’t seem to put their head around.
