The man who died of a heart attack after his wife was shot dead by the Texas school teacher was seen laying flowers at her memorial moments before his death.
On Tuesday, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos stormed Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, before shooting dead 19 children and 2 teachers who died protecting their students.
Among the victims was fourth-grade teacher Irma Garcia who reportedly taught at the elementary school for 23 years.
Just hours after receiving the news of her death, Irma’s husband, 43-year-old Joe Garcia, died of a heart attack. As the family believes, the devoted father-of-four died of a broken heart.
The couple, who were married for 24 years, are survived by Alysandra, 12, Lyliana, 16, Jose, 19, and Cristian, 23.
Now, tear-jerking footage showing Joe laying floral tributes at his wife’s memorial just moments before his death has emerged.
In the heartbreaking clip, the father is seen leaving a bouquet of red roses at the dedicated teacher’s memorial before walking away in tears.
Not long after his visit to the memorial, Mr. Garcia has passed away.
Good Samaritans have since launched a GoFundMe page and raised nearly 2 million dollars for the couple’s children.
“Irma was a wife, a mother of 4, a cousin, a sister a daughter, an aunt and a wonderful person. She would literally do anything for anybody… no questions asked. She loved her classroom kids and died trying to protect them,” Irma’s cousin wrote in the fundraiser.
“I am equally devasted to report Irma’s husband Joe has tragically passed away this morning (5/26/2022) as a result of a medical emergency.
“Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. I truly believe Joe died of a broken heart and losing the love of his life of more than 25 years was too much to bear.”
Our thoughts remain with the families of the victims of the shooting during these challenging times.
