The grieving wife of the police officer who was killed while responding to a domestic violence call has shared a moving tribute to her ‘beautiful angel’ husband.
22-year-old Jason Rivera was shot during an ambush while he and police officer Wilbert Nora responded to a report in Harlem.
The two were shot by convicted felon Lawshawn McNeil.
According to reports, Mora and Rivera were shot while responding to a report about an argument between a woman and her son. When the two entered the apartment, McNeil ran from a back bedroom and opened fire.
Rivera tragically died while Mora underwent two surgeries to remove a bullet that got stuck in his brain.
Rivera’s widow took to Instagram and posted a moving tribute to her husband.
Sharing a photo of his locker that she took at the NYPD’s 32nd Precinct, she wrote: “Fly high my beautiful angel.
“Yesterday I visited the locker room where you used to FaceTime me at during your meal time or right before you had to go downstairs to the muster room for roll call at 15:00.”
She continued: “Last night was suppose to be your day 5 & you were RDO [off] for the next three days. We both waited for your RDO’s to spend them together. But now your soul will spend the rest of my days with me, through me, right beside me.
“I love you till the end of time.”
The grieving widow’s Instagram profile shows photos of the newly married couple. In one of her posts, she describes her partner as “my soulmate, my best friend and lover from now until the end of time.”
His family, Mayor Eric Adams and hundreds of NYPD officers paid tribute to Rivera when his body was transferred to a funeral home in Manhattan.
