Heartbreaking scenes have taken over the Sunshine State of Florida as historic Hurricane Ian arrives with a bang.
According to local media outlets, at least a million people have been deprived of electricity as the mega hurricane ravaged the state with 155mph wind and a huge torrent of water.
The storm was recently declared as a storm of category 2, as reported by officials, with maximum speeds of nearly 105mph, moving in a northeast direction at 8 mph.
The eye of the mega storm was seen sitting at about 85 miles southwest of Orlando, as reported recently by the National Hurricane Center. Sources also shed light on how the current water levels are still very high in Fort Myers due to heavy winds, despite the five hours passing from the hurricane striking.
There are still plenty of reports about a strong wind hitting the tail end of the hurricane, and they’re able to push the surge onshore as of the later hours of Wednesday night. And that is what kept the land flooded at all times.
Meanwhile, starting at 9 pm, the water level was seen dropping by only 8 inches and that meant those areas pictured were still currently underwater.
Governor Ron DeSantis was seen mentioning how the emergency services will continue in the flood-torn areas to help search for those that have been stranded due to the devastation this catastrophe has managed to cause.
The Florida governor was seen providing an update during a recent press conference that began at 5:30 pm. A lot of reports continue to arise of people in Collier County being trapped by water inside their homes due to the hurricane continuing to pummel into the state, as declared by the Sheriff’s office recently.
“We are getting a significant number of calls of people being trapped”- the sheriff’s office explained via a statement mentioned on Facebook.
