The District Attorney from North Carolina has reportedly confirmed how the shooting suspect responsible for gunning down five people including his own brother would be tried as an adult.
According to reports from local media outlets, the DA revealed that she has plenty of plans to prosecute the teenager who took the lives of five others in a brutal shooting incident.
The tragic act took place in Raleigh yesterday and the suspect was identified by authorities as Austin Thompson who carried out the deadly rampage at a residential neighborhood during the later hours of Thursday night.
Speaking to Fox News recently for an interview, Lorrin Freeman explained on Friday that as the DA of the area, she was going to make sure the suspect was tried as an adult and would be prosecuted in the same manner.
At the moment, the teenager is battling for his life at a local hospital after suffering critical injuries. Therefore, all the bets are being made, assuming he recovers and is stable enough to go through the trial.
Local media outlets spoke about all of those killed in the incident and how they were recently identified, leaving loved ones in a stage of absolute horror and grief. The suspect’s own brother lost his life after being shot dead by him too. Meanwhile, among those dead include a housewife and an off-duty cop.
Other than that, a K-9 officer by the name of Casey Clark also suffered from serious wounds in the attack. She was immediately transferred to a medical facility for the treatment of her wounds and has recovered well, since then. In the same way, another surviving victim is currently admitted to the ICU after suffering critical injuries. She was identified as Marcille Gardner who is 59 and is battling for her life.
The carnage unfolded when the gunman randomly opened fire on people at the 600 Block of Osprey Cove Drive. This is where he killed two people and ran to the Neuse River Greenway to kill three more.
