A black pastor has reportedly been handcuffed and charged for watering his neighbor’s plants when they were not in town.
According to reports from local media outlets, the pastor was identified as Michael Jennings of Vision of Abundant Life Ministries in Sylacauga.
Now, he’s filing a new lawsuit alleging the authorities of pure discrimination because he feels he has done absolutely nothing wrong.
The pastor adds the gesture was done keeping nothing but goodwill in mind. But little did he know that in the end, he was being punished for something like that as well.
The news went viral and has caused a great uproar in the community where the pastor resides as many feel it’s absolutely shameful as to what is happening in today’s modern world.
“They racially profiled me. I did nothing wrong. I am yet to understand my mistake. I was only preventing their flowers and plants from burning”- he explained.
According to the police report, he was arrested when calls were made about a suspicious man roaming around in the yard. And that’s when the cops entered, asked him not to move, put handcuffs on him, and charged him too.
So many other residents and neighbors vouched for him, explaining how he had the best nature of them all. But the authorities refused to listen and even went about charging him with obstruction of the government operation, which really made him furious.
Following this entire fiasco, the pastor adds that it’s going to take him a while to forget this because it’s really impacted him mentally.
The fact that a white woman had to step in and tell the cops that this man lives right here and is their neighbor and them still not listening has really raised eyebrows.
