A fourth-grader who managed to survive the chilling mass shooting incident that took place at an elementary school in Texas is now speaking out about how the teen gunman gave him a warning while executing his friend.
The unidentified child recalled how the gunman told him in a bold tone: “It’s time to die!”- moments after he shot his best friend in an execution-style manner.
The boy says he and his four friends ran and hid underneath a table that was covered with a giant cloth. They felt they would be safe there but little did they know that the gunman would find them there too.
“I heard bullets, they were coming in all directions. I told my friends that they needed to stay quiet because they were talking and I feared that the shooter would hear us”- the fourth-grader revealed.
For now, authorities are not sure why the gunman opened fire all of a sudden. They claim they aren’t even sure if the fight that took place between him and his grandmother was actually a trigger for the incident or not.
Authorities are now praising the young child, calling him brave and smart to think fast and shield themselves from the shooter’s direct view.
The kids remained there until the gunfire ceased but he did recall how the shooter’s chilling words to all the victims were: “It is now time to die!”
The child added how the cops came when the gunfire ended and they told the survivors to yell out for help if they were still in there. And that’s when the kids started to scream for their rescue.
‘I saw the police, their armor, and shield. It was a big relief for me and my other friends that were hiding underneath the table!”- he explained. The child says although his friend couldn’t make it, he’s grateful that he and others managed to get by through the skin of their teeth.
