Up to ten people are feared dead after a Walmart manager opened fire on his staff.
The shocking incident took place at a Walmart location in Chesapeake, Virginia, just after 10 pm on Tuesday.
According to the witnesses and survivors, one of the managers walked into the break room and opened fire on the Sam’s Circle Walmart staff.
Multiple people were killed in the process. According to the initial reports, up to ten people may have been shot dead.
Among the dead is also the gunman who, according to one witness, took his own life after killing several people.
Several people who were injured in the shooting have since been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
“It was the manager. One of the managers,” one Walmart employee said of the shooter after the attack.
“He blew his brains out and everything. He killed the girl in there and everything. He came in and started spraying. I’m sorry for the victims.”
The staff member added: “I just left the break room, the manager come in there and started capping people up in there, started shooting. Sadly, we lost a few of our associates.”
As of this writing, the shooting remains under investigation and the police have yet to identify the gunman and the motive for the mass murder.
“I am absolutely heartbroken that America’s latest mass shooting took place in a Walmart in my district in Chesapeake, Virginia tonight,” Virginia state Senator and Chesapeake representative Louise Lucas said.
“I will not rest until we find the solutions to end this gun violence epidemic in our country that has taken so many lives.”
Our thoughts are with the victims of the shooting and their families.
