A 53-year-old cryptocurrency businessman becomes the third one to die in recent weeks after his helicopter mysteriously crashed near Monaco despite the pleasant weather.
Russian billionaire Vyacheslav Taran from Russia passed away after his single-engine H130 helicopter crashed near Villegranche-sur-Mer.
He becomes the third cryptocurrency businessman to die suddenly in recent weeks.
Just last week, 30-year-old Tiantian Kullander died in sleep after it was reported that crypto millionaire Nikolai Mushegian, 29, drowned on a beach in Puerto Rico after sharing on Twitter that he feared the Mossad and CIA were after him.
Mystery now surrounds Taran’s death as the fatal crash happened in good weather and another passenger canceled last minute.
According to reports, Taran was flying from Lausanne with an experience pilot when the aircraft crashed at around 1 pm on November 25.
Another passenger had also been due to join but canceled last minute.
Taran, the co-founder of trading and investment platform Libertex and Forex Club, has three children with wife Olga, the founder of Hello Monaco media.
Ukrainian news agency UNIAN claimed that the 53-year-old was a ‘billionaire crypto businessman with likely ties to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service.’
It also claimed that Taran was linked to the SVR foreign espionage agency and was accountable for “laundering Russian funds through a system of cryptocurrency operations.”
Libertex Group described Taran as a ‘highly respected, kindhearted, humble and polite businessman.’
“It is with great sadness that Libertex Group confirms the death of its co-founder and chairman of board of directors, Vyacheslav Taran, after a helicopter crash that took place en route to Monaco on Friday, 25 November 2022,” the company said in a statement.
“The board of directors of Libertex Group and company employees extend their most heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the Taran family.”
