A young woman was arrested and faces criminal damage charges after pouring liquid feces on top of Captain Sir Tom Moore’s memorial.
Captain Tom was a World War II veteran who vowed to walk one hundred lengths of his backyard to raise funds for the NHS back in 2020 ahead of his 100th birthday.
While his initial goal was to raise just over $1,000 to help the health provider get through the pandemic, the elderly man’s dedication to the good cause went viral and he eventually raised as much as $36 million. His deeds were also recognized by British Royal Family and Moore was knighted by the Queen.
After his death in early 2021, several memorials were erected in Moore’s honor including the one that stands in Hatton, Derbyshire.
Now, the Hatton memorial was vandalized by 21-year-old Maddie Budd, a medical student turned full-time protester, who poured liquid feces over the statue.
Defending her actions in a bizarre confession, the young lady admitted she was being disrespectful before calling on the UK government to “end private jets” because they “pour a bucket of s***” every time they take off.
“People are going to say that he’s a hero, people are going to say that this is profoundly, obscenely disrespectful to his life, and to the NHS he stood up for and I agree,” Maddie said in her viral video.
“I was studying to become a doctor because I believe in taking care of people. If we believe that the NHS is important, if we believe in taking care of each other, if we believe that NHS workers are doing essential work, why are forcing our healthcare system into collapse, why are we forcing our civilization into collapse, why is basically no-one taking this genocide of all humanity seriously?
“All of this is true and the Government won’t even end UK private jets, every time one takes off, it pours a bucket of s*** and blood onto everything that Captain Tom stood for.”
After her video went viral, Maddie was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.
Meanwhile, her father, Jim Budd, spoke out and admitted his daughter’s “horrible” actions made him feel “sick.”
He also claimed his daughter has gone “rogue” and sacrificed her family and her career for the sake of protesting.
“I’m ashamed of her and what she has done. There has been a big public reaction for obvious reasons. I don’t think she understands what the hell she was unleashing. She’s done something horrible without thinking of the consequences,” Mr. Budd told MailOnline.
“I felt sick with shock when I saw it – I have sent her a text message but she has not replied.
“It goes against all the things you install in your children – it is not normal behavior. I’m extremely sad. The fact is she has sort of gone rogue.”
The father continued:
“I can’t really apologize on her behalf. Sir Tom was clearly a national hero and the country resonated with his fantastic and amazing actions.
“However shocking the future of climate change predictions are, I don’t think it was her duty to desecrate his memory in the way she has. Her motivations are very real but misplaced. The fact is she has gone rogue, so to speak.”
