The news was confirmed by civil rights attorney Charles Bonner who on Sunday revealed that law enforcement and the company that manufactured the rifle used in the slaughter will be among the defendants.

“What we intend to do to help serve this community and that is to file a $27 billion civil rights lawsuit under our United States Constitution, one-of-a-kind in the whole world,” Bonner said.

The Bonner & Bonner Law attorney went on to say that anyone who can be connected to the school shooting will be named in the suit.

While the full list of defendants remains unclear, Bonner confirmed that Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Police Department, Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office, Uvalde Police Department, Uvalde School District Police Chief Pete Arredondo, Border Patrol, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Rangers will definitely be sued over botched response to the mass shooting.

Bonner further claimed that Daniel Defense, the company that manufactured the rifle used by Ramos, Oasis Back, the store where the teenager bought and obtained the gun, and the shooter’s uncle, who helped the teen obtain a rifle, will also be named in the suit.

“Everyone in this world are hurting and bleeding about what is happening here in Uvalde. And it’s up to us to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” the lawyer said.

He continued: “All of these defendants who are governmental defendants violated that law. So, we will be suing everyone who is responsible under that law and we will be suing under state laws as well such as, just basic negligence.

“And the reason why it’s $27 billion is because we have to make it too expensive for them to continue to do nothing.”

It has since been confirmed that Bonner’s law firm has partnered with a local law business and gun safety organization Everytown to take on the defendants.

The suit is currently being drafted and is expected to be filed later this year following the completion of the Department of Defense’s investigation into the shooting.
