The police have shared a chilling update about the missing three-year-old boy that went missing from his grandparents’ home in France.
Little Émile, 2, was at his grandparents’ home in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet in the French Alps when he suddenly disappeared from the garden while the family was saying goodbyes and getting ready to leave.
Following the boy’s disappearance, a massive manhunt for the child was launched and teams of volunteers, professionals, K9 units, and a helicopter were deployed.
Unfortunately, the search for Émile has continued with little to no success for three days, and the authorities now fear that the child may have already been killed.
While the investigators dismissed the possibility that the toddler was kidnapped, they suggested it was possible he was “hit by a car or tractor” and killed by accident.
The authorities also suggested Émile’s killers may have hidden the body in fear of repercussions.
“Either the body was concealed after an accident, or it was removed,” a police spokesperson said.
The conclusion was made after over 800 searchers – along with drones and a helicopter – failed to locate the boy for several days despite not being possible for the toddler to get very far from his original position due to his age.
“It is obvious that, after 48 hours, we have switched to another dimension. Hearings are underway,” the spokesperson added as he revealed interviews with residents are underway.
“Of course, we still have hope of finding him alive, but elsewhere. If he was dead in the perimeter, the dogs would have smelled him. If he was alive and hidden, we would also have found him given the means that were deployed.”
