A heartbreaking photo shows a devastated mother and her partner grieving over the lifeless body of their 18-month-old son who was killed by Russian shelling as Mariupol came under attack.
Mother Marina Yatsko and boyfriend Fedor broke down in tears as they tried to embrace their child in a hospital in the city.

Many doctors relied on light through windows and from cellphones to treat wounded soldiers in Mariupol, where a cease-fire failed.
Dr. Evgeniy said the hospital had no heat or power and patients lined up in beds along the hallways.
“We have some issues with supplies, not enough analgesics,” Dubrov said as some people were curled up on the hospital floor to protect themselves.
“We’ve worked more than a week without a break.”
Svyatoslav Borodin, a Ukrainian soldier, said an explosion left his vision blurred and he thought he lost his limbs. “Scary,” he expressed. “Very scary.”
According to reports, Kyiv canceled a planned evacuation of over 200,000 people from Volnovakha and Mariupol after Moscow ignored a ceasefire and continued to attack the city.
The evacuation would’ve been seen as a prelude to a final attack that, if went successful, would see Russian forces push north and take control of Ukraine’s coast.
Speaking to BBC, Mariupol’s deputy mayor Serhiy Orlov said: “The Russians are continuing to bomb us and use artillery. It is crazy. There is no ceasefire in Mariupol and there is no ceasefire all along the route. Our civilians are ready to escape but they cannot escape under shelling.”
An official said to NPR: “When the people organized in evacuation points, they (Russians) started attack on evacuation points. Not all the city. Just evacuation points.”
