Plumes of smoke were seen rising from a Russian oil depot after an alleged Ukrainian missile strike.

According to Andrey Klychkov, the Governor of Oryol Oblast in Russia, “an oil depot in the settlement of Stalnoi Kon” was blown up in a drone strike at around 4 am on Thursday.

“There are no casualties. All emergency services are working at the site,” he added.

The attack, for which Ukraine has not yet officially taken responsibility, comes after Putin cut the power supply to millions of Ukrainians by launching nearly one hundred missiles at different locations across the country.

According to the reports, the drone strike left a crater some 12 feet deep, whereas pictures showing the logo of Transneft – Russia’s state pipeline operator – confirm that the blown-up oil storage tank was Russian.

As some sources believe, the oil tank was likely empty at the time of the strike.

If Kyiv was indeed behind the attack, this would mark a record reach for a Ukraine missile strike on Russia.

The Stalnoi Kon oil depot is located some one hundred miles from the border with Ukraine and just 190 miles from Moscow.

“Smoking in the wrong place reached the Oryol region,” Ukrainian official Anton Geraschenko posted while drawing attention to the blast without claiming responsibility for the strike.

The drone strike comes a day after a similar incident was reported at an oil terminal in Zhecha, some 30 miles from the border with Ukraine.

The airstrike in the Bryansk region was presumably also carried out by Ukraine amid the country’s intense standoff with invading Russia.
