Ukraine has called for payback as a Russian ammunition depot was blasted to pieces in a presumed missile attack on Russian soil.
While the battle for the control of Donbas continues, several mysterious explosions have taken place on Russian soil near the border with Ukraine.
According to the reports, a massive fire was spotted in the city of Belgorod, Russia, on Wednesday morning after an alleged Ukrainian missile strike.
During the blast, a Russian ammunition depot near the village of Staraya Nelidovka was annihilated.
The news was confirmed by the local governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, who said there were no civilian casualties in the explosion that took place just some thirty miles from the border with Ukraine.
“At approximately 3.35 am I woke up from a loud bang that sounded like a blast,” Gladkov said.
“As I was writing this post, three more blasts were heard. According to preliminary information, an ammunition depot is on fire near the village of Staraya Nelidovka.”
While the official cause of the fire remains unknown, the Ukrainian authorities suggested that the blast may be a part of their retaliatory actions against Russia.
“If you decide to massively attack another country, massively kill everyone there, massively crush peaceful people with tanks, and use warehouses in your regions to enable the killings, then sooner or later the debts will have to be repaid,” Presidential Adviser Mykhailo Podolyak said.
“Therefore, the disarmament of the Belgorod and Voronezh killers’ warehouses is an absolutely natural process. Karma is a cruel thing.”
The blast comes shortly after it was suggested that Ukraine may have been behind the airstrike on the Transneft-Druzhba Oil Depot in the city of Bryansk after the facility was used for supplying Russian troops fighting in Donbas with fuel.
Meanwhile, another explosion took place at a nearby military facility where a giant fireball and a screen of smoke were caught on camera.
