A Ukrainian mother-of-twelve who served as a combat medic was killed in action while fighting Russian invaders in embattled Ukraine.
48-year-old Olga Semidyanova was a dedicated mother and soldier who decided to stay on the frontlines to defend her country and her children’s freedom after Putin invaded Ukraine.
As Kyiv Independent reported, the mother, who served in the military as a combat medic since 2014, was fatally shot in the stomach somewhere at the border between Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk in the east of the country where heavy battles between the Ukrainian defenders and Russian invaders are taking place.
Olga reportedly continued fighting the Russians even after the majority of her unit was eliminated. Since she was shot during heavy gunfire, her body has not yet been retrieved from the battlefield much to the grief of her family who wishes to give her a proper funeral.
“She saved the soldiers to the last. We have photos from the place of death — but due to heavy fighting we still can’t bury my mother,” the woman’s daughter, Julia, revealed in an interview with The Sun.
Olga was a mother-of-twelve who gave birth to six children and adopted another six from a local orphanage in a bid to give them a better life.
Following the heroine’s tragic passing, tributes have begun pouring in for the selfless soldier who died defending her country.
“She was slain in a confrontation with Russian thugs. Even when she believed her regiment might not survive, she emphasized her desire to protect the country until the end. She is a national hero. She is a hero to me,” Ukraine’s Interior Ministry adviser Anton Gerashchenko told The Sun.
