Treat Williams’ heartbroken daughter has spoken out and paid tribute to her father after the actor’s sudden and unexpected death.
The 71-year-old Hollywood star and Golden Globe nominee died on Sunday afternoon after getting involved in a horror road accident while riding his motorbike near his home in Vermont.
Sadly, the Hair and Deep Rising star succumbed to his injuries and passed away shortly after the incident.
Williams’ grieving daughter, 25-year-old Ellie Williams, has since spoken out and shared a touching old photo of her dad on social media.
“This is a pain I have never felt. I am absolutely shattered. Thank you to everyone who has sent messages and kept our family in your hearts during this terrible heartbreak,” the actor’s only daughter wrote on Instagram.
The emotional tribute comes shortly after Treat’s family released a joint statement in which they remembered the Everwood star as a man “full of love” for his family and his work.
“It is with great sadness that we report that our beloved Treat Williams has passed away tonight in Dorset, Vermont after a fatal motorcycle accident. As you can imagine, we are shocked and greatly bereaved at this time,” they wrote.
“Treat was full of love for his family, for his life and for his craft, and was truly at the top of his game in all of it. It is all so shocking right now, but please know that Treat was dearly and deeply loved and respected by his family and everyone who knew him.
“We are beyond devastated and ask that you respect our privacy as we deal with our grief. To all his fans, please know that Treat appreciated all of you and please continue to keep him in your hearts and prayers.”
Meanwhile, the police have confirmed the identity of the driver who is suspected of causing the fatal accident by cutting Williams off with his car.
The driver has been identified as 35-year-old Ryan Koss. The police also confirmed he was not driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
As of this writing, the investigation into the crash remains ongoing and the detectives are yet to reach a “formal determination” on who was responsible for causing the deadly collision.
Our thoughts remain with Treat’s loved ones during this challenging time.
