Horrific details about the crash that cost Hollywood legend Treat Williams his life have emerged.
The 71-year-old actor – who appeared in hit movies like Once Upon a Time in America, Deep Rising, Prince of the City, and Hair – died in a road accident in Vermont while driving his motorbike on Sunday afternoon.
Tributes to the beloved actor have since begun pouring in, and Treat’s family has spoken out to pay the iconic movie star a touching tribute.
Meanwhile, fresh details about the crash have emerged.
According to Matt Rapphahn, who witnessed the accident from his Long Trail Auto store in Dorset, Treat was “totally alert” and “answering questions” when he was surrounded by the paramedics.
“I saw Treat go flying through the air. The tire was still spinning,” he said while confirming the actor was wearing a safety helmet.
After the incident, Williams was airlifted to New York’s Albany Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Meanwhile, Barry McPherson, the actor’s representative, claimed that Treat was killed when a car cut him off while he was turning.
According to the initial investigation by Vermont State Police, “a southbound 2008 Honda Element […] attempted to turn left into a parking lot.”
“[The vehicle] stopped, signaled a left turn and then turned into the path of a northbound 1986 Honda VT700c motorcycle operated by Williams.”
The police added that Williams suffered critical injuries when he was “unable to avoid a collision and was thrown from his motorcycle.”
While the official determination about who was responsible for the accident is yet to be made, the police have identified the driver of the car that allegedly cut off Williams as 35-year-old Ryan Koss.
