One man has reportedly been charged with treason after his failed attempts at injuring or alarming the Queen at Windsor Castle.
Accroding to local media reports, the terrifying incident took place last year when a man managed to break past the security checkpoint at Windsor Castle.
The suspect was not only armed but tried to reach the gates of Windsor, where he was tackled down to the ground by security forces in time. His target was the Queen as he mentioned in the police report.
Jaswant Singh Chail was the name of the suspect and he has been charged with the offense under section 2 of the Treason Act.
The treason charge as mentioned by the cops was related to having the intent to injure and alarm her Majesty, the cops explained. But at the same time, the suspect was also charged with some alarming threats he had made to kill the Queen and for having offensive weapons, they went on to elaborate.
The 20-year-old who hails from Southampton is currently in custody and will be sent to court on the 17th of August.
It’s appalling to learn how this Treason Act was last used nearly 40 years back and that goes to show how safe things have been in the Royal Palace in the past few decades. But this threatening act has really opened many people’s eyes regarding how anything is possible.
The exact date of the striking incident was Christmas Day when Metropolitan Police managed to detain the suspect.
The last time such an act was used was when one suspect had fired six blank shots at Queen while she rode down The Mail in 1981, during the famous Trooping the Color in London in the year 1981.
