21-year-old Lesly Lisbeth Ramirez was handed a punishment of 50 years in jail during the final days of June this year after being found guilty of violating the nation’s draconian abortion law. This incident is believed to have taken place in a small town in the Central American nation.

The court is believed to have accused the young woman of intentionally taking the life of her unborn child, adding how she inflicted a series of critical injuries to the child using a sharp knife. These injuries included severe trauma as a result of six injuries to the neck region.

But other reports claim that Lesly had no idea that she had suffered a miscarriage until she used the toilet on June 17. And that is when she found out that her stillborn daughter fell into the toilet bowl, as mentioned by the Citizens’ Group who are fighting for the rights of women and are in favor of decriminalizing abortions.

On that note, she was reportedly rushed to a nearby hospital but later did she know that she would also be charged for a crime of this huge extent.

It is also believed that she was forced to make a court appearance in front of the judge, just ten days after she suffered from the miscarriage. However, she had to decline as, during that time, she was receiving blood transfusions that would make her appearance more or less impossible.

And that’s when the judge felt that since she was absent, she would now be held in custody. Soon, after that, she was forcibly put on trial and deemed guilty, with the judge handing her a 50-year long jail sentence.
