A 13-month-old toddler tragically died after her mother set her down on the driveway still strapped to her car seat and accidentally struck her with her car.
Cyra Rose Thoeming died outside of their home in Cottonwood on Thursday after the tragic incident.
Police said the heartbroken mother, Jafria Thornburg, was parking her vehicle outside of their home when she took her daughter out of the car and placed her in a gravel-covered area.
But the canopy of the car seat got caught in the front tire and the seat fell into the path of the vehicle.
The mother quickly called 911 and her daughter was rushed to Verde Valley Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.
According to a GoFundMe page set up for Cyra’s funeral, she was born on May 16, 2022, and died on July 6th in a devastating ‘tragic automobile accident.’
“There isn’t anyone who didn’t smile their biggest after spending just a moment with her. It didn’t matter how you felt, she would make your day better,” it read.
Cyra’s grieving father, Michael Thoeming, wrote on the page: “She was a living miracle and reminded me, my spouse and all she came in contact with that the love of God and the goodness of heaven are often with us here on Earth in the form of a person.”
He also said that they would never stop ‘carrying’ their little girl in their hearts.
In a separate post on Facebook, Theoming wrote: “Though I’ve lost you here on earth. I will follow the path that will lead me back to you one day. I will always be your Father which is the greatest title I have ever held in this life. My every waking moment is dedicated to being the man that you made me.
“I love you Cyra Rose. Forever.”
