A two-year-old baby reportedly shot its younger sibling and mother at a parking lot outside Walmart after getting its hands on parents’ gun.
The shocking incident took place at the parking lot of Walmart in Granbury, Texas, where the child, whose sex remains undisclosed, picked up its parents’ gun from the center console of their car.
After holding up the gun, the toddler shot and injured its 1-year-old sibling in the leg. The child’s 23-year-old mother was reportedly also shot in the arm and chest.
Following the shooting, the baby and the mother were rushed to separate hospitals. DailyMail.com has since confirmed that both the baby and its mother have already been discharged from the hospital.
As of this writing, the case remains under investigation, whereas the police have yet to determine whether the parents will face any charges.
It is believed that the mother was shot while standing outside the parked vehicle near the driver’s door. While the two children were alone in the car with the gun resting unsecured in the car’s center console, their father was standing near the rear of the vehicle.
“It’s possible,” police Lt. Russell Grizzard told Local 12 when asked if the parents, who have not been named, are to face charges.
“It’s too early in an investigation to determine if any criminal charges are going to be appropriate, but we will look into that.”
The shooting remains under investigation as of this writing.
