A former TMZ employee has testified in the Depp-Heard trial and revealed that the entertainment site was tipped off when they took pictures of Amber’s facial bruise.
Testifying in court, Morgan Tremaine, a former employee of TMZ, recalled the time the celebrity news site was tipped off to take photos of Amber Heard’s bruised face outside the LA court where she filed a restraining order against Johnny Depp in 2016.
“The objective was to capture her leaving the courthouse and she was going to stop and turn to the camera and display the bruise,” Tremaine said.
Though the witness didn’t reveal the source of the information the company was provided with, he confirmed that a news producer played a role and that the tip must have been verified.
Heard previously insisted that she was taken by surprise when she saw reporters outside the LA court after she filed for a restraining order.
Tremaine was also asked about the leaked video in which Depp was seen ransacking his kitchen.
While the former TMZ employee didn’t confirm allegations that Heard’s team leaked the video, he revealed that the clip TMZ received was not as long as the one presented in court.
He added that the part where Heard was “sniggering at the camera” was missing in the version TMZ received and shared.
Heard’s attorney Elaine Bredehoft then went on to ask Tremaine whether he was providing evidence simply to gain “15 minutes of fame.”
Striking back and drawing laughs from Depp’s team, Tremaine replied: “I’m putting myself in the target of TMZ, a very litigious organization. I could say the same thing as taking Amber Heard as a client. I find that to be purely logical.”
