The grandfather of the slain Texas girl who was reportedly kidnapped from her own driveway and murdered by a FedEx driver is finally breaking his silence.
Mark Strand says that he has forgiven the killer, despite his brutal actions. Moreover, he spoke in detail about how he spent five minutes and opted to speak to the killer in his jail cell. And that’s when he came to the conclusion that Tanner Horner did something evil but the only way for him and his family to recover was to forgive him.
“Forgiveness is the only way out and we’ve decided to do just that”- he went on to mention.
Horner reportedly snatched the young victim named Athena Strand from her own home when he allegedly went to drop off a package. He went back with her and decided to kill her in Paradise, Texas as confirmed by local media outlets during the afternoon hours of Wednesday.
The young victim was found dead 10 miles away on Friday as confirmed by the police, who also mentioned that she was likely killed within an hour of the abduction by the killer suspect.
The cops manage to connect the killer to the victim based on a tip-off and also by tracking the route of delivery that he utilized that day while delivering parcels while on duty.
Horner did confess to the evil and heinous crime after he was taken into police custody for questioning. Now, he faces major capital murder charges and those linked to aggravated kidnapping too.
The victim’s grandfather says he really came to this tough decision of forgiveness despite the massive turmoil that has occurred. He called it out as a battle between evil and good and hoped that people would understand his and his family’s decision and respect it as they go through this tough period of mourning.
