A teenage boy passed away tragically after allegedly falling on a large knife while playing with the sharp object.
18-year-old Bailey Jones died of a stab wound during a gathering with friends at a home in Bomaderry, NSW.
According to the reports, Jones was playing with a large knife in the driveway when he tripped and fell directly onto the blade at around 7 pm on Friday.
The teen was immediately rushed to the hospital but could not be resuscitated.
While his wound appears to be self-inflicted by accident, the police have yet to rule out other possibilities including foul play.
Following Bailey’s premature death, his heartbroken family spoke out to pay the young man a tribute.
“That I can’t call you or see you at family events is already hurting so much,” one of his cousins wrote.
“You’ve left a hole in my heart that will never go away. Please just come home I don’t want you to be gone, life’s so cruel.
“Will never forget all the times and memories I’ll hold onto tucked away in my heart and your beautiful mum I promise we will be there for her forever cuz.”
Paying a tribute to the 18-year-old was also his aunt who said: “Please look after and watch your mum to give her strength to move on. You will always hold a special place in my heart.
“I loved you more than life. My heart hurts. Love you forever, aunty.”
As the police have since confirmed, Bailey’s friends who were present at the gathering are cooperating with the investigation.
“It’s a terrible set of circumstances but there’s certainly nothing in our investigation that should concern the community, and we will continue to try to find out what has occurred,” Detective Acting Inspector Ian Griffin said.
“It’s too early to speculate at this time, but our eyes are open to all possibilities.”
