A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged after he shot a 15-year-old girl in the back 22 times.
Diamond Alvarez was walking her dog near her home when Frank Deleon Jr., shot her. According to Houston Police Department, she was meeting him on Tuesday to confront him about his infidelity.
The victim’s grieving mother, Anna Machado, said that Deleon sent a text message asking her daughter to meet him at a field.
“My daughter was always crying about him,” Machado shared. She hopes that a judge orders Deleon to be held without bail.
“He doesn’t even deserve a high bond,” she said. “He executed my daughter.”
On the night Alvarez was killed, her family told Houston NBC affiliate KPCR that they heard multiple gunshots while the 15-year-old was walking their dog Peanut outside.
Moments later, their concern grew bigger when they heard scratching at the door and found Peanut with his harness and leash covered in blood.
Alvarez’s older sister, Ashley Machado, said: “When they saw Peanut by himself, they knew something was wrong.”
The family immediately went outside to look for the teen.
Anna Machado said her youngest son found Alvarez bleeding in a field. “My son found her. I tried CPR, and I couldn’t bring her back,” she told KRIV-TV.
“I tried so hard to keep her alive. I couldn’t.”
Paramedics arrived and declared Alvarez dead at the scene.
Her stepfather, Tito Moczygenba, said the person who “shot this girl in the back 22 times (is a) coward.”
Deleon, who lived less than half-mile from Alvarez’s home, was charged with murder.
Machado said she is relieved that the arrest has been made. “I went up here (to the memorial) again, crying and said: ‘Baby you have justice. It´s not done yet. It´s not over yet. But at least we know a name.’”
