Three’s Company star Suzanne Somers paid tribute to Olivia Newton-John who passed away at the age of 73 after losing her battle with cancer.
The two stars were not just blonde bombshells in the 1970s but also breast cancer fighters.
Speaking to Daily Mail, Somers has shared what it was like to have the Grease actress as a friend.
“Everyone would want an Olivia Newton-John in their life,” Somers, 75, said.
It was in 2001 when Somers was diagnosed with breast cancer, and now she is cancer free.
“Olivia taught me not to be afraid when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.”
The actress also told Daily Mail how impressed she was with how down-to-earth Olivia was.
“Olivia was exactly what you would expect. She was kind and sweet. I never heard her say a bad word about anyone.”
After bonding over their struggles, Somers said that Newton-John was like a ‘sister.’
“There is a sisterhood that grows larger every year. It’s a sisterhood you never want to join but when allowed entry you find great comfort with other ‘sisters,’” she expressed.
The Step by Step star also said that Olivia provided her great comfort when she was diagnosed with cancer.
“She taught all of us so much through her bravery and “never give up” philosophy. We got strength through Olivia and her example of life.
“As a 70’s icon she lived a full life. I loved her and will miss my ‘sister’ forever.”
Somers also took to Instagram and wrote a heartfelt tribute to her friend: “We got strength through Olivia and her example of life. As a 70’s icon she lived a full life.
“I loved her and will miss my ‘sister’ forever.”
