A prominent academic has recently confirmed how Russian head of state Vladimir Putin has reportedly been offered a series of ‘surrender’ terms by Ukraine and several Western allies.
The news comes as the country lost complete control of the Ukrainian city of Kherson.
Today, the country’s most respected Russian policy expert did go into more detail about that. He says that the news comes at a time when Russian troops were left with no decision but to withdraw from the city of Kherson in Ukraine.
And as you can probably imagine, it was definitely another major or humiliating defeat for the Russian commander-in-chief.
Meanwhile, Professor Valery Solovey who has strong connections with the Kremlin says that if Russia does indeed choose to surrender, then it would result in Russia giving up all of its territories with Ukraine. But the only exception, in that case, would be Crimea.
The latter would be a demilitarized zone and the status wouldn’t be discussed until the year 2029.
So now the question arises, would Putin ever consider the decision or not? If yes, why would the country think about an offer that spells defeat?
Well, the insider says that the proposal is yet to be rejected and is currently under discussion. If it does pull through, Putin and his allies would no longer be in threat of facing criminal charges for all the war crimes they’ve committed since last February.
Sources in the US are also open to the idea. They feel that it was a great opportunity to end the war on a neutral note and was something that was a long time coming.
