62-year-old Frank James was arrested without an incident on Wednesday, a day after a masked gunman shot at least ten commuters on a train at the 36th Street and Fourth Avenue station in NYC’s Sunset Park.

According to the authorities, the keys of the van James had rented in Philadelphia were found at the crime scene, whereas the suspect has a long rap sheet and a history of social media posts and videos inciting violence.

The shooting suspect was nabbed on 1st Avenue at the 7th and 8th Street after being recognized by a 21-year-old security guard who is in for a $50,000 reward after alerting the police about James’ whereabouts.

Following his arrest, James has been charged with committing a terrorist act on a mass transit system. He is set to appear in federal court this Thursday.

As New York’s Eastern District’s Attorney Breon S. Peace said after bringing the charges against James said, the suspect could be imprisoned for life should he get convicted.

It is currently believed that James fled the subway platform and made a getaway by riding a northbound R train after firing 33 shots.

After getting off the train at 25th Street in Brooklyn, James successfully evaded cops until the next day when he was recognized by Zach Tahhan who was fixing a CCTV outside a store.

Before his arrest, James allegedly also called the police on his own saying: “You know, I think you’re looking for me. I’m seeing my picture all over the news and I’ll be around this McDonald’s.”

When the police arrived, however, James was no longer at McDonald’s. It was Tahhan’s tip that led the authorities to the suspect’s precise location.

Following his arrest, it has come to light that James has a long rap sheet including charges of criminal tampering, trespassing, criminal sex acts, disorderly conduct, larceny, and more.

James would frequently also post hateful videos inciting racial violence and make threats to the NYC mayor.

Just two days before the shooting, James shared a video in which he claimed Black people were forced into violence by White people.

“This is what white b*****s and white m*********ers expect you to be… when you blow one of their f*****g brains out – this is what you asked for. This is how you wanted me to be, obviously,” he said in one of his rants.

In another video, he said: “This nation was born in violence, it’s kept alive by violence or the threat thereof and it’s going to die a violent death. There’s nothing going to stop that.”

The shooting remains under investigation. James is set to appear in court on Thursday.
