Terrifying reports from authorities have gone on to confirm the death of at least 20 students who were found dead inside a nightclub.
According to officials, the tragic incident took place at a nightclub in South Africa where the young individuals were stated to have been celebrating the end of their exams.
Police were called in amid terrifying reports at the Scenery Park during the early hours of Sunday morning. The exact location was identified as Enyobeni Tavern. This area was said to be a part of the township located in the southern city of East London.
Authorities are now confirming the ages of the victims which were said to lie between 18 to 20 years.
As far as the cause of death is confirmed, the authorities are yet to figure that out although there were some speculations of the students either being involved in a stampede. On the other hand, some reports went as far as mentioning how the students were most likely poisoned.
Now, the provincial community at the Eastern Cape is going on to rule out the possibility of a stampede as the cause of death. They also stated how they understood that all of the patrons were students who were trying to celebrate the end of their ‘pens down’- a party held to mark the end of their exam session.
But now, the country’s leading newspaper has gone on to report how those killed had been exposed to a weird type of poison that they were in the midst of investigating.
They went on to describe the horrifying scenes where bodies lay across heaps of chairs, and tables as well as on the ground. There were no signs of injury on them.
Meanwhile, a number of unidentified images featured cops trying to calm down a large group of anxious people present outside the club, just about 620 miles away from the city of Johannesburg.
