Tensions and protests have reached an all-time high in India after students wearing hijab were barred from entering their respective classrooms.

While the controversy initially began last year, it seems to have taken another turn with many demanding for their rights to practice their religion.

At the start, a group of schoolgirls hailing from one of the country’s government institutions demanded their right to wear the head covering. But after being denied, they have now turned the issue into a massive national row where so many are protesting against the government.

The most tension is being seen in the Indian southern state of Karnataka which is where the issue first began,

On Tuesday, the state’s chief minister was quick to order for the closure of all schools as well as colleges as the matter began to get out of hand.

“We urge all students to maintain peace, order, and harmony”- the minister revealed.

But that was just the start as another greater protest began on Tuesday when the high court started to hear pleas in the context of overturning a ban regarding the hijab at all government-run educational institutions.

This is especially true when the state government, run by the Prime Minister himself, urged all students to please refrain from wearing any type of clothing that disturbs the public order, until and unless the court would give its ruling on the matter.

But with each day passing by, many are losing their patience in this regard and many Muslim students are now being forced to turn to the country’s top court for their assistance in the controversial matter.

What will be the eventual fate in this controversial matter, no one knows but many hope the country’s top court can soon provide them with relief and the freedom to wear the hijab.
