Determined to help out the woman, Adam and Mikayla pulled over and asked her what had happened. The woman then told them her car had broken down and Adam tried his best to fix the vehicle.

After working on the car for almost one hour, Adam gave up and told the woman he couldn’t fix it. That’s when she pulled a gun on the pair and ordered them into the nearby woods.

Once deeper inside the forest, the woman told the couple to hand over their cellphones and bank cards.

In an attempt to protect his girlfriend and their belongings, Adam pulled out his gun and shot at the woman. In the exchange of fire, the young man was fatally wounded and the robber was injured.

After Mikayla called the police, the woman was arrested and taken to the hospital for gunshot wounds treatment. She has since been identified as Yasmine Hider and charged with murder.

The police also found out that Hider was living off the grid with her children just half a mile from the scene of the armed robbery.

While surveying the area, the police reportedly came across a five-year-old boy armed with a shotgun. The child was handed over to social services.

The police also arrested 36-year-old Krystal Diane Pinkins after it was revealed that she participated in the robbery. She, too, was charged with murder, kidnapping, and robbery.

Following the tragic incident, Paulus spoke out and revealed she and her boyfriend decided to help the woman because she appeared to be stranded.

She also said the woman “didn’t have to shoot” because they would have given her money and food had she asked.

“Yesterday my world ended. My reason for being, my soulmate, my life partner, the future father of my children, died in the middle of a state park in Alabama,” the grieving young lady said in a tribute to her slain boyfriend.

“No words can begin to describe the shock and pain I’m in. We had our entire lives ahead of us. Adam is the best person I’ve ever met on the face of this entire planet.

“He was the most pure soul and he made sure I knew I would be safe when I was with him. It comforts me to say he passed in one of his favorite places, the forest in the mountains.”

She continued: “Losing Adam was my biggest fear, I always asked him what he expects me to do if he died, his answer was ‘to take care of our children.’

“So that’s what I’ll do. I’ll try to fight everyday to not leave our 3 cats, our fur children, behind, but this is and will be the hardest thing I’ve ever dealt with. No other scenario could match this pain. I wish I could hold your hand one last time. I’ll love you forever, Adam Simjee, thank you for being my hero everyday for 4 years, the best 4 years of my life.”
