A student who witnessed the shooting at the Michigan high school has recalled the terrifying moment Ethan Crumbley opened fire.
15-year-old Crumbley has been charged with one count of terrorism and four counts of first-degree murder after killing four Oxford High School students on Tuesday.
Now, Aiden Page, a senior student who witnessed the shocking attack, spoke out and recalled the time he and his classmates barricaded themselves inside a classroom to stop the gunman from getting in.
In one of the pictures shared by the teenager, a pile of desks and chairs is seen blocking the entrance to the classroom. In another, a gun hole can be spotted in the classroom door.
“We grabbed calculators, we grabbed scissors just in case the shooter got in and we had to attack them,” Page told Anderson Cooper during an interview with CNN.
He added: “The very first thing in my head was, ‘Is this actually happening? I’m going to text my family, say I love them just in case, if I were to die.’ Then when everything calmed down for a second, I was able to catch my breath and rationalize things.”
Another student, a freshman named Mark Kluska, told the publication how his sign language teacher went on to shut and secure the classroom door after the school was put on lockdown.
“I started realizing it was real when I began to hear yelling,” the teenager told CNN.
Following the shooting, Crumbley has been arrested and charged with one count of terrorism causing death, four counts of first-degree murder, seven counts of assault with intent to murder, and twelve counts of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.
