Brown took Allen’s phone away and let her text her family the words ‘I love you!’ on December 14. This message alarmed her family and prompted them to call the police.

The affidavit stated that when officers knocked on Brown’s door asking about Allen, he said that he was alone in the house. He also refused to let them enter without the permission of his parents.

Officials then obtained a search warrant and found Allen’s Snow College ID. During the search, they found the teen alive in the basement, naked and covered in coal.
