A 17-year-old student was found dead after a fight at a Connecticut party where three others were also injured.
James McGrath was found stabbed outside a home in Shelton where the alcohol-fueled party was held. It is not clear who owns the home.
When officers arrived at the property, they saw ‘numerous teenagers’ outside the house and ‘four stabbing victims.’
McGrath tragically died while the three others were left with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to reports, no arrests have been made and Shelton police said to the New York Post that the ‘investigation is currently ongoing.’
McGrath’s school, Fairfield Prep, held a private vigil on Sunday, where over 1,000 people attended to honor the life of the student-athlete.
“In the coming days, students and faculty have the support of the school’s leadership team, Jesuit priests, campus ministers, counselors from Prep and Fairfield University to offer help while grieving this tragic loss,” the school announced.
A nurse who lives in the area was one of the people who called 911 after hearing screams, Fox 61 reported.
Her son Peter McCarthy told the news outlet that the mother walked out and saw the teenagers. “She walked over and gave the kid CPR before she passed away.”
A neighbor from across the house said it was “sad to see what’s happening to our teenagers,” adding that she was “scared” to send children to school when they are of age.
“They are making so many mistakes and decisions,” Christina Louis-Fin expressed.
A parent of one of the students also told Fox 61 that her son burst into tears.
“(My son) crying and he is saying: ‘How could somebody be so angry, like how somebody be so angry that they would do that?’ I don’t know what to tell my children. I feel like right now, all I can do is offer a prayer.”
